Uncle Tom’s Cabin, Dresden, Ontario Canada

This Ontario Heritage site celebrates the life of Josiah Henson, a slave from Maryland, who ran away to Upper Canada through the Underground Railroad in 1830. He in the long run bought land in Dresden, Ontario, and built up a settlement that filled in as shelter for previous slaves. Today, the site means to instruct guests about African Americans who got away from subjugation to settle in the zone. It includes an interpretive focus with nineteenth century ancient rarities from the abolitionist time, just as the house where the Josiah Henson lived with his family, and the structure that housed criminal slaves.
