Bayamo is the capital city of Granma Province, the second
most seasoned pilgrim city on the island. As the base camp of the war for
independence against Spain, it is regarded as the origination of Cuban nationality.
Every October here happens La Fiesta de la Cubanía, the festival of Cuban
culture and custom. Guests can appreciate around two dozen guided visits in and
around Bayamo, including city visits by horse carriage or by foot. They can
appreciate Turquino National Park, Desembarco del Granma National Park, Rio
Macío ecotour, Sierra Maestra jeep safari visits, fishing, snorkeling,
trekking, diving, and that's just the beginning. Guests who come here in
January can watch the Heroic Burning of Bayamo festivity. The Bayamo Gourmet
International Event is a well known cooking celebration.
